This paper uses a sound methodology to measure Tooth Size Discrepancy (TSD). It finds that there are statistically significant differences between the two malocclusion types and that these differences are greater in surgical groups. The principle proposed justification for this further study on TSD is that it explores surgical patients and compares them with non-surgical. One or two points require clarification and one important aspect requires further analysis of the data. Clarification: The selection of the finally included patients is not unambiguously described. The background cohort is a consecutive sample, but do all of those meet the stated inclusion criteria or only the measure subset of 240? It is probably the latter, in which case: were these a consecutive sample which met the criteria?
