This study was undertaken to examinethe possible niche marketswhich East Coast farmers might beable to use to regain their advantage.Their future economic success couldhinge on shifting the focus from traditionalfruits and vegetables tohigh-value specialty ethnic producefor which there might be a growingdemand. The study results indicatethat there is a strong market demandand interest for ethnic produce inthe East Coast. Local producers canbenefit by concentrating theirefforts in producing ethnic vegetablesand fresh produce and makingthese newer products available inthe local and regional markets.
