In conclusion, therefore, the authors reiterate the following points made in the paper. The conclusions need to be validated by underground trials and measurements (and this is to be carried out). Future research and investigations are being undertaken in line with the work described in the paper. It must be remembered that all forms of models have limitations that must be considered by the modeller, whether they relate to computer modelling, scaled-down models, or models using blasting to simulate underground rockbursts. The key is whether the model helps to produce an understanding and/or a result that in hindsight is proved to be correct.
