Sago starch plastic films were prepared by blending with different amounts of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) through casting. A suitable plasticizer was added to the blends. The performance and properties of the films were investigated. From the results obtained, the addition of 3 wt% of PVA gave increases in tensile strength and flexibility. Meanwhile, scanning electron micrographs showed a smooth surface structure for the films. Water resistance properties also increased as the amount of PVA increased, such that there was a reduction in water absorption capability. Conversely, the degradation tendency of the films was reduced as the amount of PVA increased.
