Indian Steel Industry: Review of present status and future prospects

摘要

From a one million tonne capacity industry at the time of independence to being the fifth largest crude steel producer in the world, the Indian steel industry has evolved markedly over the last few decades and today, it is passing through one of the most challenging phases, building a future that promises to take it to even greater heights. In the present paper, the author takes a look at the performance of the Indian steel industry in recent times and tries to fathom its prospects / challenges for the future.
