The Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society: revelations, opportunities, and a sense of pride.

It has been an extreme honor and privilege to serve as your President this last year ?One is never prepared to serve in this capacity and is humbled by the experience. Fortunately, there is always family present to center your life, friends to support you, mentors to council you, and the challenges of a surgical life to temper your pride As I contemplated the topic for my Presidential Address, I reviewed what my predecessors had chosen to talk about and considered the opinions of my trusted colleagues. It became quickly evident to me that this should be a very personal reflection on what I have observed during my presidential year and during my 22 years of professional life.
