摘要

Medically supervised exercise has been shown to effectively improve exercise performance, including increased claudication-onset time and peak walking time in patients afflicted with peripheral artery disease (PAD). Although supervised exercise is currently a treatment recommended by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, reimbursement by health insurance companies is not yet provided. Therefore, patients experiencing PAD-associated claudication could benefit from an exercise alternative in the community setting, such as a home-based walking program.
