A clinician's perspective

Figure 1 has risen to prominence in recent months and has been heralded as the "Instagram for doctors" - primarily because, like Instagram, it is an image-sharing app allowing users to comment on images, to rate or "star" images and to follow other users. Having been an active user of the platform since March 2015, the author uses it primarily to teach about radiological images including X-rays, CT, MRI and ultrasound images. Figure 1, along with a crop of competitors, combines social networking, app-based education and crowd-sourced data - in this case, the data is the large and growing bank of images posted by users.
