摘要

Wheat (Triticum aestivum var.Kanchan) was grown as intercrop between Leucaena leuceocephala hedge rows planted at 6 m alley width. Observations on crop productivity and nutrients (N,P and K) were taken at three distances (near to alley, quarter to alley width and middle of the alley ) from the hedge. Physico-chemical status (organic carbon, pH and available N,P and K) of soil was analyzed at three depths (0-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm). The grain yield was maximum (34.12 q ha~(-1)) in hedges pruned at 40DAS. Reduction in yield by 33.7percent of unpruned hedge rows was evident when compared to pruned hedgerows. Effect of direction of alley on wheat yield was found to be significant. The wheat grown in the southern alleys recorded relatively higher yield(31.71 q ha~(-1)) than in the northern alleys. Nutrient uptake of wheat was comparatively higher in hedges pruned 40 days after sowing of wheat. Soil nutrient status (N, P and K) was higher in pruned hedges. A maximum nutrient concentration of 276.70 kgN ha-1, 12.46 kg P ha-1 and 370.65 kg K ha-1 were found in unpruned hedgerow treatments.
