Modernization of Automatic Systems in Coke Section No. 2 of the Severstal Plant

In 2000, in coking section No. 2 of the "Severstal" byproduct coke plant (Cherepovetsk metallurgical plant) an automatic process control system (ACS) construction was begun for four coke-oven batteries Nos. 7-10 and two dry coke quenching installations Nos. 2 and 3. The work was started after the implementation of the main subsystems of the automatic control system in the coking section of batteries Nos. 5 and 6. The automatic process control system, which was partly implemented in those coke-oven batteries, was highly efficient. It should be pointed out that none of the coke-oven batteries in CIS countries is equipped with such an automatic system of control of the coking process of this level.
