A previous paper dealt with the future basis for coking coal in Russia and was oriented to the production of high-strength coke on the basis of the structure and properties of the raw materials in accordance with the best specifications. On it, we envisaged additional use of South Yakutia coals of grades K, OS, KZh, and Zh in the exploitation of previously surveyed Chul'makan and Kabakhta deposits (constructing pits and dressing plants) and extension of the Neryungra deposit. A forecast evaluation indicates that this implementation will provide about 6.5 million tonnes of dressed coking raw material, which basically resolves the problem of producing high-strength coke. However, in our previous paper we did not consider the modification of the coal basin with its detailed coking and chemical plants in connection with the possible involvement of the South Yakutia coals, although that problem is important because the Russian producer of coke does not have practical experience of using these coals in substantial amounts.
