Briquetting with a binder seems to be the most universal method of lumping of fine-grained and finely divided materials, which cannot be directly used in production processes in their initial physical state and which do not lend themselves to briquetting without the use of binder substances. The preparation of coarse-grained materials in their initial form is dictated by the necessity of providing optimal parameters for the briquetting technology with respect to size (the material is pulverized to the fine-grained state) and moisture content, the level of which depends on the form and properties of the binder used. The choice of the binder for briquetting must be based on the following principles: the possibility of developing a continuous briquetting process in roller presses; the availability and economic expediency; the conformity to the character and specificity of the technological process in which briquets with an optimal binder content will be used.An important condition in the development of the technology of briquetting of materials with a binder in the roller press is the determination of the optimal parameters of the briquetting process: temperature, consumption and temporal parameters, which provide the qualitative preparation of the mass being briquetted and the steady operation of the press and the production of strong briquets. The level of mechanical strength of briquets, which depends on the particular conditions (the scale of the briquetting unit, the character and specificity of the technological process, in which the briquets will be used) must provide the resistance of briquets to breaking stresses (dynamic and static) to which they will be subjected during the process.Briquets must not be thermoplastic and must exhibit thermal stability against the technological temperatures of the process for which they are indented.Briquets that are not water-resistant must not be stored in outdoor storages. Such briquets must be protected against the action of atmospheric precipitations and melt and storm waters.
