BBE commissions compact surface bulk air cooler and refrigeration plant

Ventilation, refrigeration and cooling specialists BBE have successfully commissioned, what they believe to be, the South African mining industry's most compact surface bulk air cooler and refrigerant plant for Impala Platinum's new No 20 Shaft mine. The 13.2 MWR installation has a total footprint smaller than 50 x 50 m and is probably the industry's most cost-effective bulk air cooling plant with a total capital cost of less than R4 million per megawatt (MWR) of cooling duty.
