Is family history alone a sufficient indicator for screening colonoscopy?

Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents one of the few cancers where screening and early diagnosis is possible and mortality preventable. Since the first appearance of evidence in support of the potential for screening to reduce morbidity and mortality due to CRC 20 years ago, many practice guidelines have been written, and in many cases, serve as blue prints for establishing screening programs and compliance, used as standard for measuring quality of cancer care at a population level.
