A new species of Epiblema (Tortricidae) formerly misidentified as E. walsinghami (Kearfott) and E. infelix heinrich

Epiblema gibsoni, new species, is described from 84 adult specimens (69, 15). This moth is commonly encountered at black light in Ohio and Kentucky during July, especially in habitat supporting prairie vegetation. Its range extends from northwest Arkansas to central Mississippi and western South Carolina, and north to southern Michigan. Epiblema gibsoni is distinguishable form other members of the genus on the basis of forewing maculation, but its similarity to E. walsinghmi (Kearfott) and E. infelix Heinrich has caused it to be misidentified in the past. Genitalic characters suggest that its closest congener is E. inflix.
