摘要

This paper presents double order SVS controller using derivative of reactive power as an auxiliary signal to improve the dynamic and transient performance of long transmission lines at different levels of series compensation. The auxiliary control signals are easily attainable from the locally measurable variables. The effectiveness of the proposed SVS controller is demonstrated for the IEEE first bench mark model of power systems. The dynamic performance has been evaluated by computing the eigenvalues of the linearized system model. The proposed SVS controller when incorporated stabilizes the unstable mode in the system. To illustrate the performance of the controller tinder Urge disturbance conditions, digital simulation study has been carried out using nonlinear model. The controller effectively damped out the power system oscillations at different levels of series compensation.
