Seed Drill Choke Indicator System to Detect and Remove the Choking

Tractor drawn seed drills are extensively used for sowing operation by the farmers. Modern seed drills are equipped with suitable metering mechanism for proper seed rate, uniform distribution, and correct placement of seeds in soil. Seeds pass through seed channels of seed drills before dropping into the furrows in fields. During sowing choking generally happens at the bottom end of the seed tubes and in furrow openers due to moist soil or foreign materials. To detect and remove such choking, a labour is being employed to monitor the event of blocking and its clearance. Due to human error often he fails to detect the choking immediately, resulting in omission of seeding in certain rows in fields. This causes non-uniform distribution and improper seed placement which affects the yield. The above problems are more serious when sowing is done during night time. Even though, this centre has developed a device, which is used to indicate choking only. The existing system is to be modified so that the indication process becomes more efficient and also removes the choked material. Keeping above in view, the aims of this work is to design and develop an improved tractor driven seed drill choke indicator system to detect and remove the choking immediately and to monitor the status of seed and fertilizer boxes.
