摘要

The design, development and characterization of a fiber optic interferometeric sensor for the accurate measurement of longitudinal strain is envisaged. A Mach-Zehnder interferometric configuration is realized using two numbers of single mode optical fibers, a broad band source, two numbers of 3 db couplers and an optical spectrum analyzer. The method can be extended for the measurement of displacement of the order of nanometers, temperature, pressure etc.
