摘要

Variations in independent component tolerances affect the resultant tolerance of assembled product. If the effect of component tolerances on the assembly is visualised at design stage, designer can give realistic tolerances to the components to avoid any functional failure and rejection as well as reduce the production costs. In the present study, computer-based tolerance analysis of one way clutch assembly has been done to estimate the effect of variations in the component tolerances on the tolerances in the clutch assembly. The assembly drawing is made in AutoCAD and its DXF file is analyzed in specially developed software package (CATAS). The software analyses the assembly tolerances both by worst case and statistical analysis methods and provides the expected percent rejects of the assembly based on the set of component tolerances and assembly design tolerance limits.
