摘要

Reduction of particulate emissions from diesel engine is one of the most challenging problems associated with the exhaust air pollution control. This paper proposes an improved computer aided theoretical modeling of cyclone separator - a non contact type particulate removal system with a continuous ceramic packed fibre filter placed at the end of the vortex finder tube for arresting diesel soot particulate emission. Proposed improved grade efficiency model presents increased diesel soot particulate collection efficiency. Proposed modified empirical pressure drop model which is a summation of cyclone and packed ceramic fibre filter pressure drop are within allowable range of diesel engine operation. Result shows good agreements with the existing cyclone flow, diesel particulate filter (DPF) flow characteristics and with the existing theoretical and experimental studies of cyclone as a DPF.
