摘要

Machine tool structure is an assemblage of various components, joined either by bolts or sliding joints. These joints play an important role while estimating dynamic characteristics of the structure. In this article, a mathematical model of metal-to-plastic contact type joint has been used. The joints have been modelled as hypothetical 3-D beam elements so that these can directly be integrated into FEA of the structure. The proposed joint element is capable of simulating the effect of joint and layering material on the resonant frequency and loss factor of the structure.
