1 feel fortunate to deliver 15th Dr. N.S. Randhawa Memorial Lecture in the Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry. This is an important occasion in my life, because I draw inspiration from the visionary ideas of Dr. N.S. Randhawa, a doyenin Soil Science and a great agricultural researcher of our country, who always strived to arrest land degradation and enhance productivity through sustainable developments. I take this opportunity to pay my homage to Dr. N.S. Randhawa by delivering a talk on ‘Soil Erosion Research in India: An overview’. I have chosen this topic mainly due to its importance in contemporary Soil Science issues and problems; and also due to Dr. N.S. Randhawa’s keen interest in conserving the natural resources of India.
