The preparation and characterisation of 1,3,5-trialkyl-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane complexes of Group 6 metal carbonyls [M(CO)(3)(C3H6N3R3)] (R = Me or Bu-t, M = Mo or W; R = CH2Ph, M = Mo) are reported. The complexes have been characterised by NMR, IR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Their spectroscopic properties and reactivity are discussed and compared with those of the corresponding complexes of Cr and analogous 1,4,7-triazacyclononane complexes. The single-crystal structures of the 1,3,5-tri-tert-butyl-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane adducts with Mo and W have been determined. [References: 24]
