Two structurally characterized tetraruthenium carbonyl clusters, [Ru-4(CO)(9)(mu-CO)(2)(mu(4)-NH)(mu(4)-eta(2)-HC(2)Tol)] 1 and [Ru-4(CO)(9)(mu-CO)(2){mu(4)-NC(O)OMe}(mu(4)-eta(2)-HC(2)Tol)] 2, have been isolated from the reaction between [Ru-3(CO)(9)(mu(3)-CO)(mu(3)-NOMe)] and tolylacetylene (HC(2)Tol) in refluxing n-octane.
