Are the new guidelines for cholesterol and hypertension age friendly?

Toward the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, new guidelines for the management of cholesterol and hypertension were published.1'2 Previous guidelines have ignored the fact that older persons have altered physiology and comorbidity that alter their responsiveness and need for medications. In this editorial, we review the new guidelines to determine tlieir utility for older persons, and in particular for the nursirig home resident.
