摘要

The paper addresses the available methods of determination of the chip flow angle h on the tool face in oblique free cutting of ductile metals. A method for assessing this angle by the chip contraction is put forward; it is based on determination of the effecting (working) rake gamma(eff) of the tool in the plane normal to cutting plane and passing through the chip flow direction. Comparative calculation results are given; it is noted that the proposed method offers advantages of simplicity and accuracy of determination of the angle eta.
