摘要

The paper outlines the procedure and results of comparative investigation of removal rate and relative tool life of laps of grey cast iron compared with other lap materials in diamond finishing of ceramic materials for medical applications. It is demonstrated that the grey cast iron laps offer the best performance in terms of removal rate in finishing both alumina- and zirconia-based ceramics. Furthermore, as the physico-mechanical properties and hardness of these laps are raised, the removal rates in finishing go up. On the other hand, the machined surface roughness is better in the case of lower-hardness laps.
