A systematic investigation has been carried out todetermine both the γ liquidus and solidus surfaces above the Nisolid solution in the Ni-Al-X ternary phase diagramssuccessively by differential thermal analysis. Each of the groupIV elements in the periodic table, Ti, Zi; and Hf, was chosen asthe ternary additive X in the present study. As a basis, y liquidusand solidus temperatures in the Ni-Al binary system werereinvestigated and evaluated. The γ solvus was also taken intoaccount to determine a temperature range for a solid-solutiontreatment above the γ solvus, generally called "the window," aswell as the maximum solubility limit of γNi solid solution.
