General Radiology: Where Do We Go From Here?

Recently, the American Board of Radiology announced that it anticipates initiating changes in the content, timing, and structure of the diagnostic board examinations. The declaration has sparked debate not only about training residents and fellows but also future trends in radiology. Some have opined that the training structure in radiology should require fellowship or research or both . Others have suggested that the "generalist" should be relegated to a historical footnote or perhaps melded into the emerging field of emergency radiology.
