PALYNOLOGICAL STUDIES OF SOME ASTERACEOUS TAXA FROM BILASPUR REGION, CHHATTISGARH

摘要

The pollen morphology of 14 genera belonging to the family Asteraceae of Bilaspur region have been described. Most of the pollen grains show spheroid and sub-prolate shapes and uniformly echinate tectum. However, the number, position and characters (NPC) of apertures exhibit variation among the taxa of different tribes of the family Asteraceae. Accordingly, the pollen grains have been catagorized into seven catagories, triporate (Vernonia cinerea), tricolpate (Ageratum conyzoides and Emilia sonchifolia), tricolporate (Calendula officinalis, Chromolaena odorata, Grangea maderaspatana, Lagascea mollis, Parthinium hysterophorus, Sphearanthus indicus and Spilanthus paniculata), tetraporate (Tridax procumbens), tetracolporate (Tagetes procumbens), trizonocolporate (Chrysanthemum morifolium), tetrazonoporate (Sonchus arvensis).
