It gives me tremendous pleasure to introduce Mr Kenneth Stewart, a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, Scotland. Ken organized the extremely successful Fourth International Congress on Auricular Reconstruction held in Edinburgh in 2007. He has demonstrated a passionate commitment to ear reconstruction and in doing so has built a network of friends and colleagues around the world who are supporting him in this wonderful venture, a supplement, dedicated to ear reconstruction. Ken suggested the East meets West theme to underline the enormous contributions from both cultures when approaching this Universal challenge. The numbers from China are staggering, the skills and refinements from Japan amazing, the surgical maturity and outcomes from Europe and America are inspirational. What more can I say? Excellent job, Ken, and now, please sit back, relax and read about the state of the art: ear reconstruction.
