Superficial Circumflex Iliac Perforator (SCIP) Flap: Variations of the SCIP Flap and Their Clinical Applications

The superficial circumflex iliac perforator flap, which can overcome the shortcomings of the groin flap. was first reported in 2004 by Koshima et al. This flap has been applied to various types of reconstructions, including head and neck, limb, and penile defects. Recently, we have developed various types of superficial circumflex iliac perforator (SCIP) flap by incorporating surrounding tissues such as external oblique fascia, iliac bone, intercostal nerves/perforators, and groin lymph nodes.Herein, we present those flap elevation methods and their clinical applications.
