This paper explores the use of piezoelectric actuators for exciting selected vibration modes in fabric-reinforced composite laminates that are used as substrates for electronic circuit card assemblies. Experimental results show that the piezoelectric actuator system is capable of producing vibration excitations comparable to that of an electro-dynamic shaker and representative of use environments, for the purpose of accelerated stress tests. The effectiveness of the piezoelectric system as a health-monitoring device is also discussed. [References: 4]
