摘要

Housing is a basic human need. Safe, accessible, and affordable housing provides a wide range of important psychological and social benefits. Alternately, the lack of appropriate housing puts at risk one's health, safety, and welfare. Despite the clear implications with respect to employment, health, independence, and quality of life, the issue of housing has received very little attention in the rehabilitation literature and has not been a focus of rehabilitation counseling research. We are grateful to the editors, therefore, for this opportunity to highlight recent research in what we believe to be a critically important but generally overlooked aspect of the lives of persons with disabilities. In this special issue, we explore housing and its impact in terms of the specialized housing, community living, and caregiver issues of people with multiple sclerosis.
