Evaluating the impact of an embedded psychodynamic psychotherapist in an early intervention in psychosis service

Early intervention in psychosis (EIP) is a strategy for treating early psychotic illness quickly and effectively. It aims to intervene at the onset of psychotic symptoms to reduce the duration of untreated illness, and it promotes an integrated biological, psychological and social approach (Whitwell 2001). Specialist early intervention services are now a standard component of mental health care in England (Department of Health 2007).
