摘要

The effects of reaction conditions on the grafting parameters during the grafting of acrylic acid onto casein employing potassium peroxodisulfate(PDS)/Ferrous sulfate redox pair have been studied under nitrogen atmosphere at different temperatures.On increasing the peroxodisulfate concentration from 3.0 x10~(-3)to 10.0 x 10~(-3)mol dm~9-3)grafting parameters were found to increase.Grafting ratio,efficiency,add on,conversion were found to decrease with increase in ferrous ion concentration from 3.3 x 10~(-3)to 5.0 x 10~(-3)mol dm~(-3).It was observed that maximum efficiency was obtained when monomer concentration was 5.0 x 10~(-2)mol dm~(-3).Optimum time and temperature for grafting of acrylic acid onto casein were found to be 120 minute and 35deg C respectively.The thermal analysis of casein and graft copolymer was performed in nitrogen atmosphere to study their respective weight loss.
