The solutions of the fixed-energy inverse scattering problem for the radial Dirac equation and the radial Schrodinger equation with spin-orbit term are discussed. For the first time the procedure of Coudray and Coz for the Dirac equation is implemented numerically. The nonrelativistic inversion scheme taking into account a spin-orbit term is generalized to complex potentials as needed for nuclear physics applications. Both approaches, despite their conceptual differences, can be used to analyse essentially the same scattering data. The methods are compared in an application with a realistic nuclear physics example. [References: 30]
