THE AMOUNT OF coal consumed in the UK in the third quarter this year was an all-time low of 7mt, 19.5% lower than in the same period a year earlier, according to the latest statistics from the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Generators consumed only 5mt of coal, which was a record low and 18.9% less than a year earlier.
