Effect of fumigants on soil microbial population and proliferation of fusarium oxysporum inoculated into fumigated soil

Soil fumigation method has been widely used to control soil borne pathogens. Adverse effects of the fumigants on soil microorganisms are considered to be serious because of their high exposure to the population. Effects of soil fumigants on bacterial and fungal populations, enzyme activities, and amounts of norganic nitrogen and phosphate were previously reported. Most of the studies, however, examined magnitude of the adverse effects but not either duration of the effects or behavior of re-contaminated soil borne pathogens after fumigation.
