Achieving True Reservoir Stimulation in Deepwater Horizontal Sandstone Wells

In offshore horizontally completed sandstone wells,an acid job usually is pumped to remove filter cake.When these wells are acidized with a hydrochloric(HCI)/hydrofluoric(HF)acid mixture,the resulting skin values usually are positive.An improved HF acid system(IHF)was introduced that uses an organophosphonic acid complex to control HF generation and to reduce potentially damaging secondary and tertiary precipitates.The full-length paper describes the results and case histories of field treatments that resulted in truly stimulated wells with negative skin.
