Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for recurrent patellar dislocation after total knee arthroplasty.

Patellofemoral problems are the most common complications after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and are considered to be the major cause of revision surgery. An appropriate treatment indicated for the problems depends on the etiologies and conditions of individual cases. We report a case of recurrent patellar dislocation following TKA that did not have any malalignment of the prosthesis in the frontal, sagittal, or axial planes and that was successfully treated by reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL). To our knowledge, this is the first report of MPFL reconstruction for the treatment of patellar instability after TKA.Our patient was informed that data concerning the case would be submitted for publication.
