Opioid abuse, politicians and blame

It is human nature to seek a party to blame when harm occurs. And unquestionably, society has been harmed by opioid abuse leading to abuse and death. It is also human nature to simplify complex matters and characterize them as being "black and white" rather than acknowledge the many factors and variables that impact the issues. Such simplistic claims impede finding solutions to the problems. And tragically, that is what we are see today in the ways that many people approach and characterize opioid abuse.
