Spectra of CH4 + O-2 low-pressure flames have been recorded at a resolution of 0.020 cm(-1) with an infrared Fourier transform spectrometer in the spectral range 1790 to 5029 cm(-1). Through the use of CO2 and CO emission lines, the flame temperature has been determined with a precision of the order of 1%. Results (wavenumbers, band centers, and spectroscopic constants) concerning six new vibrational transitions Delta nu(3) = 1 with (2 upsilon(1) + upsilon(2)) = 5 which have not been observed earlier and which occur between highly excited vibrational stares are reported.
