European project to create metallic catalyst-free PLA using lasers

A new project is bringing together packaging research centres and industry stakeholders to develop processable monolayer biopackaging, based on polylactic acid (pla) and without the use of metallic catalysts. the innoreX project, headed by Germany’s Fraunhofer institute for Chemical technology (iCt), brings together 11 organisations, including both industry and fellow research centres, on an eu-funded effort to create industrially viable bioplastic.
