UK pushes for more domestic recycling, as compliance grows

T he UK continues to post strong recycling rates - but the British Plastics Federation (BPF) has questioned the reliance on exporting plastic waste for recycling elsewhere. This practice compromises the sustainability of recycling, as well as highlighting the requirement for domestic infrastructure to manage the processing of recyclables. In a recent publication entitled BPF Proposal: To encourage and incentivise the use of recycled plastics in UK manufacturing, the industry body called for investment in recycling infrastructure in the UK.
