Control of anthracnose disease of Saraca asoca caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides was made by using the microbial inocula. Different strains of the antagonistic fungus such as Trichoderma, - T. viride, (mutant strain UMTV1), T. lignorum, T. harzianum, T. hammatum and T. reesei were challenged against the pathogen. The mutant strain .of T. viride was the most potent antagonist which inhibited the growth of the pathogen with 89% efficiency. Pseudomonas fluorescence, a plant growth promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR) exhibited 78% growth inhibition of the pathogen. An integrated approach made to control pathogen by using culture filtrates of T. viride (UMTV1), P. fluorescence and a systemic fungicide, carbendazim (0.01%) in a compatible combination,exhibited cent percent growth inhibition of the pathogen. Further field trials showed over 60% control of the disease. Substitution of the fungicide, carbendazim with the VAM fungus, Glomus fasciculatum in its combination, G. fasciculatum, T. viride (UMTV1) and P. fluorescence appeared to be the best to control disease in field.
