I read with great interest the article by Drs. Gimpelson and Wagner entitled "Unilateral Placement of the Adiana Device after Failed Bilateral Placement of the Essure Device for Hysteroscopic Sterilization" [1]. While I agree with the authors that "Surgeons will always benefit by having multiple techniques in their surgical armamentarium because each will have characteristics that make it better suited to specific situations," I also believe they did not properly present the current available data when they stated that pregnancy prevention data are "similar to the 100% pregnancy prevention rate demonstrated using the Essure device."
