Mineral wealth of a country has an important role on its economic developments. Many of the today's well-developed countries owe their industrial development to their waste and abundant mineral resources and their economical utilization. Turkey, at this context, is rather lucky concerning mineral resources; in fact, there exists considerable amount of minerals, which are spread all over the country. They differ in terms of quality, grade and reserves. It is at the first place in the world concerning boron reserves with a share of more than 70 percent of the world total. Likewise, it is also at the first place in zeolite, thorium and pumice while at the second place in trona and fourth place in baryte, celestite, asbestos and chrome. In fact, 3.5 percent of world chromium reserves, 2.2 percent of world industrial minerals and l.8 percent of the world copper reserves are in Turkey (Kirsan, 2005). But unfortunately, it has not been benefited from this prosperity in a sufficient level until now.
