The first U.S. National Conference on "Carbon sequestration" took place at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington DC on 14-17 May, 2001. The conference was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory. 370 delegates took part in the conference, many more than the organisers had originally expected, which indicates the rapidly growing interest in sequestration in the USA.
