Even after decades of experience,PTFE-based materials for dynamic seals are usually chosen more on experience than on hard science.To improve this situation,reciprocating compressor spares and service company Hoerbiger has carried out pioneering research to yield a consistent theory of wear.This has eliminated the need for"black magic"when specifying PTFE-based compressor packings.
